Our annual general meeting (AGM) for both the Provincial and Federal Green Party associations in Ottawa West - Nepean takes place on Saturday April 17, 2021 from 2 pm to 4 pm. This time it will be virtual via Zoom as we will not be able to get together. This is very unfortunate, but it is what it is.
We will share the financial situation of our associations (good) and (re)elect members for the coming year. Many of the board members have indicated they'd like to stay on for another year.
Guest speaker David Pogue
We will start the meeting with our guest speaker David Pogue. This part of the meeting is accessible for all members of the public. David was the New York Times weekly tech columnist from 2000 to 2013. He’s a five-time Emmy winner for his stories on CBS News Sunday Morning, a New York Times bestselling author, a five-time TED speaker, and host of 20 NOVA science specials on PBS. David will be speaking about and promoting his new book, How to Prepare for Climate Change.
In How to Prepare for Climate Change, author David offers sensible, deeply researched advice for how we should start to ready ourselves for the years ahead. Pogue walks readers through what to grow, what to eat, how to build, how to insure, where to invest, how to prepare your children and pets, and even where to consider relocating when the time comes.
He also provides wise tips for managing your anxiety, as well as action plans for riding out every climate catastrophe, from superstorms and wildfires to ticks and epidemics.
Electing the board
Following our guest speaker, we will be electing the Executive boards for both the EDA (the federal association for our riding) and CA (the provincial association for our riding). Hosting this year is Green Party Federal Council - Ontario Representative, Adrian Currie.
