The board of the Electoral District Association of the Green Party Ottawa West – Nepean (O.W.N.) is pleased to announce that Mr. David Stibbe has been acclaimed as the candidate for the Green Party Ottawa West – Nepean to stand for election for the House of Commons of the 44th Canadian Parliament on September 20, 2021
Mr. David Stibbe ran in 2019 for the Green Party in Ottawa West - Nepean and received 6.3% of the votes. He has been the CEO of the Green Party in Ottawa West – Nepean for the last two years.
About David Stibbe
Ontario Certified Teacher
Dave has a B.A. from Carleton University and a B.Ed. from the University of Ottawa; he is an Ontario certified teacher actively working at a high school in Kanata. Dave has over 20 years of experience as an education professional in elementary, middle school, high school and college.
Dave has designed and led numerous group wilderness programs, established numerous child and youth environmental education programs and participated in several sponsored outdoor adventure expeditions.
Dave’s experience in the outdoor industry includes over fifteen years as a professional outdoor adventure guide and instructor.
Senior Management positions
He has held senior management positions in the Adventure Tourism industry and sits on the Board of Directors of a privately held company that is the largest adventure tourism company in Eastern North America.
Executive Director for the National Whitewater Park Preserve
He currently is the Executive Director for the National Whitewater Park Preserve, an organization which holds in trust nearly 3000 acres of riverfront along the famous Rocher Fendu section of the Ottawa River. With others, David is actively working to gain long term protection of this land within the Provincial Park or National Park system.
He also was an early member of the Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Board of Directors and the former Director of Instruction for Whitewater Ontario.
Small business owner
Dave is the founding partner of award-winning urban-based outdoor adventure tourism company Ottawa City Rafting, located in the riding. As a former small business owner, he knows the challenges of running a business all to well.
Dave is also actively involved in community initiatives and was a part of the team that developed the Britannia Winter Trail. Currently his local projects include working with Wesley Clover Parks to develop a Mountain Bike park, and creating a not for profit Friends of Mud Lake organization that would be able to work in an official capacity with the NCC to support sound management of this popular local park and conservation area.
In 2015, David together with Ottawa City Rafting won the Best New Tourism Company in the National Capital Region; an honour awarded by Ottawa Tourism.
Mr. David Stibbe, along with his wife Angie, lives in the Britannia neighbourhood of the Ottawa West – Nepean riding. David and Angie have two daughters.
