Please join the Ottawa West-Nepean Greens on Wednesday, August 4th to learn about Carbon Engineering’s carbon capture technology! We have invited Cole Caswell from Carbon Engineering to talk about their concept of removing CO2 on a large scale. This will be an online Zoom presentation.
Removing CO2 from the air
Cole Caswell will speak on their impressive Direct Air Capture technology which removes carbon dioxide from the air at a megaton scale. The regenerative process uses standard industrial equipment assembled on site, meaning plants can be rapidly deployed and a full local supply chain is developed. One plant does the work of around 40 million trees but with significantly less water and land use.
Carbon Engineering is a Canadian company founded in 2009 with their head office located in Vancouver, BC. The company has been featured in articles by National Geographic, The New York Times, The Economist, and Forbes. Their first large-scale commercial plant is expected to be built in the US in 2022.
Convert carbon into fuel
This captured CO2 can either be stored underground in what is known as carbon capture and storage, or converted into carbon-neutral fuel using renewable energy sources, by a process the company calls Air to fuels. The company is running a pilot plant in Squamish, British Columbia, removing CO₂ from the atmosphere since 2015 and converting it into fuels since December, 2017.
The event will include a presentation with time for questions at the end. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
